Beta-Tau Responds to Hurricane Sandy

The impact of the recent hurricane on the East Coast led many members of the active chapter to step in to support a fellow brother at another chapter.  James Trever is a pledge at the Pi-Phi chapter at Brookyln College.  The hurricane last week created a fire in Breezy Point, Queens in New York that destroyed the home of James's family as well as everything inside.  Last week a message was distributed by Worthy Grand Master, Christian Nascimento, to alert other chapters about the loss and to see if any chapters could lend support to James and his family.  Members of Beta-Tau emptied their pockets and raised $500 to assist James and his family in their recovery and immediate needs.  Another chapter raised $150 to pay the initiation fee for James, while others were able to donate clothes and other supplies.  In just a matter of hours, chapters from all over were able to raise thousands of dollars to support the family.  According to Grand Master Paul Elstchinger, 'just goes to show when we come together as brothers, we can accomplish anything as the best fraternity in the world.'
